Alan M Turing 1912-1954 - Mathematician, Codebreaker and War Hero

Alan Turing was a leading theoretician of digital computer science from the 1930s through to the 1950s. Turing often used his mathematical skills to investigate whether natural processes such as human thought worked similarly to machines. Turing is now widely acknowledged to be one of the founders in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

Antique Pewter and Understanding Pewter Marks

Pewter is an alloy of tin, lead, antimony or, especially for fine antique pewter, copper. Bismuth was sometimes added to help the alloy harden. The amount of each metal in the alloy can vary greatly but, as a rule of thumb, the more tin content the better the quality of pewter. Similar to pewter, Britannia metal is also a high quality alloy consisting mainly of tin with relatively small amounts of antimony and copper.

Shoreham Airport (IATA: ESH and ICAO: EGKA) - also called Shoreham (Brighton City) Airport - is owned and operated by Albemarle Shoreham Airport Ltd since Worthing borough Council and Brighton & Hove City Council sold it in 2006. Shoreham Airport is located just over a mile west of Shoreham-by-Sea within the boundaries of Lancing. Having been founded back in 1910 it is now recognised as the oldest licensed aerodrome throughout the UK.

David Lloyd George 1863-1945

David Lloyd George, the First Earl Lloyd-George of Dwyfor OM PC, was born on 17th January 1863 and died of cancer on 26th March 1945 at the age of 82. Lloyd George served as Member of Parliament for Caernarvon Boroughs from 1890 to 1945.
